Amitea founded in 2018 at the heart of Calgary’s vibrant Chinatown, Amitea has strived to concoct the perfect recipe between bold flavors and intimate friendships one cup of tea at a time. We thrive on the recreation of familiar tastes and invite you cordially to explore what you’ve been missing out on.
Our story began in 2018 when we first started out as a small family-owned Taiwanese milk-tea and Vietnamese bánh mì vendor at the heart of Calgary’s vibrant Chinatown. As first-generation newcomers, we are no strangers to homesickness. For the first two years in Canada, we let our creativeness roamed free by experimenting vigorously with different ingredients just to recreate that sense of comfort being closer to home.
Different culinary tastes and being 12,000 miles away from Vietnam came with their useful perks, however. For the first time in our lives, we realize just how powerful familiar tastes were; of how a slight tinge of coriander leaf, concealed amidst the piquant mix of marinated satay beef could mean a world of differences to a cultural food enthusiast. Just imagine fusing that essence with the richness of a specially brewed cup of Taiwanese black milk-tea and see what lies await?
